I received the following email offer from Harrahs with, what looks to me, to be some pretty nice rates for staying at the Rio during the WSOP. I wonder why they would offer these rates if the WSOP was filling the hotel? This is also posted in the B&M forum.

Why do you think the WSOP is filling the hotel? From posts on this site, it sounds like people attending will be staying all over Vegas.

Slightly off topic, but where is Stars sticking their qualifiers. They mention in "1 of 3" hotels on the strip in their e-mail, but I have not seen any specifics about this.

My Stars email said their hotels were the Monte Carlo, Treasure Island and Luxor. I have not heard back on which one I'm being put in. I've seen posts here saying people have been placed in the Monte Carlo and Treasure Island.

A bit off topic, but how long is it supposed to take Harrah's to get back to you and confirm your starting day after you've had your Reg. stuff submitted? I still don't know what days I'm planning to be in Vegas.

There are 2563 rooms at the Rio Hotel. Even with 10K players in the main event, thats a drop in the bucket to Vegas as a whole. I heard they will be remodeling their Poker Room during the WSOP. So don't know about any side action there. [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

Still likely it will be pretty expensive to stay there during the weekends. but $69/night during the week ain't too shabby at all. Would work out nicely for you if that's all you needed. but this isn't going to be a likely scenario for many WSOP participants.

Last year the "casino" poker room was closed the days I was there. All of the action was held in the conference center.
Cash, SnG's, qualifiers. |
