Default $215 Speed Hand #5: Playing AKs on the bubble against...another idiot.

Villain sucks a whole lot. Raises 5xBB preflop, overaggressive, etc.

How is my c/r line rather than cont. betting and pot committing him? Check/raising makes it easier for the idiot to fold after the flop...

PartyPoker $215 Speed Tournament, Big Blind is t200 (4 handed) Converter on pregopoker.com

CO (t4240)
Button (t4440)
Hero (t5970)
BB (t5350)

Preflop: Hero is in SB with A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
<font color="gray">CO folds</font>, <font color="gray">Button folds</font>, <font color="red">Hero raises to t400</font>, BB calls t300

Flop: (t1000) 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)

Goggles,

This is a complicated hand..

I would have liked if you raised more preflop, with that raise he could have pretty much any two and planning to make an aggressive move post flop.

I dont understand how you raised to t400 (a min raise) and he had to call t300 after posting a t200 blind.

You are a little better than a coin flip if he calls and has any pair (even a 4). Maniacs like this often dont understand the bubble even at the 215's.

I would bet out 3/4 of the pot - and consider a fold if villain pushed. You'd still have 4500+. If villian folds to your bet you have enough of a chip lead to pound the bubble once the blinds go up.

or...

Check/raising makes it easier for the idiot to put you on a draw and make an awful call on the flop...

I 3-bet this AI if raised on the flop and C/R a blank turn AI if flat called.

I raised to 500. The converter screwed that up.

Isn't it better to check/raise shove than to cont. bet and get shoved on?

Since you, in fact, raised to 500, this looks very good to me.

I like the C/R allin given your read on the opponent.

I just open allin on the flop. Even if called we are almost never an underdog and we really want to discourage action on the bubble. This isn't the time to play games IMO.

Stacks not deep enough IMO, v often their flop raise will give you little to no fold equity.
