Default Memphis Restaurant Suggestions

Hello, All,

I will be in Memphis all weekend. If anyone has any suggestions for good bars and/or restaurants it would be greatly appreciated. I like ethnic food, but I am down for everything. I am not looking to spend a fortune, but a variety of choices isn't bad. Basically, I'm looking for any good dining experiences you have had in Memphis. Thanks.

Check out Rendezvous, it's an awesome BBQ joint. Be prepared for a massive crowd at night tho, esp if it's a weekend. The wait is totally worth it though IMO, fantastic ribs and BBQ.

Rendez-Vous is a must, get the dry rubbed ribs. http://www.hogsfly.com/

I would also grab a pulled pork sandwich from Interstate BBQ at the airport. Probably my favorite ever.

For real barbeque, go to Payne's or Cozy Corner (these may have a low wife-acceptance-factor, in which case you may substitute Germantown Commissary).

For excellent casual-yet-fancier-than-chillis, go to Jarret's.

For super fancy, Erling Jensen's.

For steak, Folk's Folly.

For BBQ, Rendezvous and Neeley's Interstate. Likely to be the best BBQ you'll ever have.

BBQ-Rendezvous-Warning their waiters are pricks.

Steak-Folk's Folly, Ruth Chris are both excellent.

Where exactly are you staying? Downtown? Tunica.

Folk's Folly and Ruth Chris are in East Memphis (Near 240 and Poplar).

Another good steak experience down town is Texas de Brazil.

I was here last weekend, it ribs were excellent, but the sides were nothing special, still overall definately worth it.

WHAT??? No mention of Corky's???

Isn't the world-famous BBQ contest this weekend at Tom Lee Park (where downtown meets the river)?

Corky's is alright but slightly overrated.

Oh, forgot to mention: Pete and Sam's. Beware, they only serve beer, if you want wine or booze, you have to brown bag it.
