Flopped Quads With Action
Hello fellow poker enthusiasts.
I don't like how I played these two hands because I think I may have been able to get some more money out of them. Let me know what you think. Hand One I was pretty new to the table so no reads. Full Tilt Poker No Limit Holdem Ring game Blinds: $0.25/$0.50 6 players Converter Stack sizes: UTG: $158.10 Hero: $62.80 CO: $20 Button: $20.25 SB: $19.15 BB: $66.55 Pre-flop: (6 players) Hero is UTG+1 with 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] UTG calls, Hero calls, CO (poster) checks, Button folds, SB raises to $3, BB folds, UTG calls, Hero calls, CO folds. Flop: 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] ($10, 3 players) SB bets $3.5, UTG calls, Hero calls. Turn: 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ($20.5, 3 players) SB checks, UTG checks, Hero checks. River: 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ($20.5, 3 players) SB checks, UTG checks, Hero bets $12.5 When the first player bet and the second smooth called I totally went into "OMG I need to slow play this and not discourage their action" mode. Upon reflection I think I should've raised the flop or bet the turn as obviously one or both of them were drawing and would probably have happily put in some more money. Hand Two (Apparently I flop a lot of quads) Full Tilt Poker No Limit Holdem Ring game Blinds: $0.25/$0.50 5 players Converter Stack sizes: UTG: $83.10 CO: $50 Hero: $102.65 SB: $34.30 BB: $105.30 Pre-flop: (5 players) Hero is Button with A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 2 folds, Hero raises to $2, SB calls, BB folds. Flop: T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ($4.5, 2 players) SB bets $4.5, Hero calls. Turn: T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ($13.5, 2 players) SB checks, Hero...? I'm not so sure here. Ideally the villain has pocket tens. Can I bet here? Should I have raised the flop? |

Re: Flopped Quads With Action
ummm... Just do your best...bet on every street... trying to get as much money in as possible, this won't happen often enough to be worth analyzing as it says in the FAQ

Re: Flopped Quads With Action
hand one, bet the turn like 1/2 pot
hand 2, raise the flop, the only way you are winning any here is if he has the case ace or if he gets stubborn with KK/QQ. After that turn, i would just push.. Zeebo thm. |

Re: Flopped Quads With Action
case ace? he has all four??
hard to put him on a hand in hand 2 - you have pretty much all the cards worth having. yeah, ideally he has 1010, but i don't think your average 50NL player takes anywhere near his line w/flopped underfull/turned quads...... if he was leading with some kind of a draw then party basically just two-outted you. he's not going to even bother chasing a flush/gutshot with two pair on the board. i don't think there is a standard line for quads. it's more player dependent. putting people on hands should be a little easier since there is less that the person can have that connects with the board. it's ok to slow down a little with a huge hand and hope they catch up, but just remember, if you end up checking the whole way hoping they catch something, what good is your huge hand? if they have a draw (EXTREMELY likely in hand 1, possible/player dependent in hand 2), they'll pay to chase. don't be afraid to raise. ugh, as much as i hate it, maybe even minraise? i always criticize the move because it gives people odds to draw out, but if anyone is going to draw out on you in either of these hands, it will be to 1 or 2 outter straight flushes, and nobody has odds to draw to these, minraise or not. |

Re: Flopped Quads With Action
Hand 1,
I'd minibet the the turn to build the pot. I'd say 1/4 to 1/3 of the pot. The bet is supposed to look like your trying to steal the pot with a probe bet. You don't want to scare off your "customers". Then, value bet the river, 1/4 to 1/2 of the pot. Hand 2, I'd check the turn. Then, bet the river with whatever you think will be called. However, that kind of board tends to suckout all of the oxygen from the table and you may not get called. |

Re: Flopped Quads With Action
as others have said:
hand1- small bet. i actually think 12 is too much. hopefully, 66+ or a draw comes along. hand2- check behind is fine but dont expect to be making any more money regardless of what you do |
