"What would you say is your biggest weakness"

So I'm looking for a summer job, and I've been thinking about the interviews I will hopefully have soon. I think I'm fine with everything people seem to ask except that biggest weakness thing. I think its such a stupid question, and I normally just make up some bs about being a percfectionist. What do you guys think the best answer to this is? And, if you interview people and you ask this question, why do you do it and what are you looking for?

Id say it would have to be the fact that my golden shoes are too tight, and all of my 100$ bills wont fit in my wallet.

A lot of interviewing is not what you say, but how you react to the question. If asked, "Do you have a drug problem" the interviewer knows 99% of people say no. Some percentage, however, are not telling the truth.

Point being, don't give an "oh crap" look to the question (either because you have 1000s of weaknesses or because you hate the question) but remain confident and give some stock BS answer like you are a perfectionist. Or say Starbucks.

I've been thinking about this lately, and I think when it comes up I'm going to go with "I'd say I'm a bit on the overconfident side. I think I can do anything and I won't quit until I prove it. It sometimes gets me into trouble when I tackle something that's a little bit too much for me and I work a little too hard on it, but it also lets me get things done that I wouldn't if I didn't try." Or some variation of that.

these are all BS answers. they're not looking for BS answers. they're looking for a real answer, but you can then spin it to say how it might actually turn out to be a positive thing if handled in the right way.
