Gift advice needed
I'm defending my Ph.D. thesis in a week. In my lab, typically my advisor and the new graduate will exchange gifts. The problem is, I have a couple ideas of what to get him, but he has rich tastes. He's really into single malt scotches, but there's no way I'm going to spend the $300 it would take to get him something he'd really like. My price range is more like $10-$50.
He collects old maps and first edition scientific books, which are also way out of my league. We're neuroscientists/psychologists, so that may be one avenue. The last guy who graduated got him a little miniature branding iron with his initials on it (like this one), which was a great idea. OOT, I know you're all etiquette experts at heart. Got any ideas? |
