NL200, 6-max Villain is unknown. From what I've seen so far, he plays a lot of hands.
Hero is UTG+1 with AA Hero bets 7$, button calls, BB calls Flop (22$): 3 6 9 rainbow BB bets 13$, Hero calls, button folds. Turn (48$): Q (4th suit) BB bets 31$, Hero calls River Q BB checks, Hero checks BB leading on flop and turn was a bit scary, but the betting felt probe-ish so I figured this was a WA/WB situation and I wanted to showdown. Hero shows AA (pair of aces) BB shows QJo (three of a kind, queens) |

why didn't you reraise after the flop? That would have probably gotten him out of the hand before the Qs had a chance to flop.

Obviously Hero played this hand perfectly, as he lost the hand.
If he pushes the turn he just loses more. DUH. |

You would have to put him on a set or QQ to be behind in this hand, Twang. Actually, you should have raised the flop. You don't know he has QJ yet, do you? What about 1010? What about JJ? Just calling the flop could make him think you are slow playing KK, AA, QQ, and you don't want to do that. mainly, though, if a K or A comes up, if he has a medium pair, you kill your action (do you see why?) You want to put him to a tough decision if he has medium pairs or JJ. Otherwise, he may get timid and make an easier laydown on the turn/river.
Also, if he does have KA and a A or K hits, you kill your action again. Do you see why? I'm mistaken - after the turn, you should just call, if you think he hit his Q (judging from his turn bet, that's likely). Maybe he puts you on 1010 or something and you can extract more $$ on the river. So, I apologize for that strand of advice...only 1/4 of the way through my coffee (now I'm 2/3rds done). A' |
