I just felt my hand was too good here given board to just call, I see enough people do stuff like this with A8 or 77 (and still call down), and the 4s seemed a bit to low to be threatening. |

I'd like the turn better if he had a higher PFA and could be trying to take the pot down with clubs. I still think it's ok / good since there should be way more 8s than 4s in his cold calling range.
I call because I am a stubborn bastard and like seeing showdowns. I think I might be good something like, 1 in 20 here, so even if I lose a bit of value I'll sleep better and maybe one day have the confidence to let it go, knowing I have it right. |

no way you are good here, he might have 98 once in a blue moon but he'd still have to be bad enough to not put you on an overpair
so yeah i fold |

everyone who says they wouldnt fold, what does he have that I beat? [/ QUOTE ] I agree it is tough to put him on a hand you beat, but it is tough to put him on any hand IMO. He doesn't seem the type to raise the turn with only a flush draw, but what else just calls your turn 3bet but raises the river? 99 is the only hand he could play that would match your read of him. Since there is a fairly good chance he made a weird play on some street I make the call hoping for 89. |

Maybe this is part of my game that I need to improve on a bit but why would you 3 bet that turn? Just seems like a spot where you are way ahead or way behind. Lately I have been guilty of a lot of these plays where I may be ahead and dump in 2+ BB on a guess which kills my BB/100.
Anywho back to this hand once he pops that turn I have no need to put in more bets other than ones he either wants to donate to me with an 8 or takes from me with a 4. |

You receive 16.5-to-1, and 89 is definately possible, so a call seems in order, if only for the "feelgood" factor.
If you are going to fold to a raise, you might be better off checking the river because IMO he is going to bet a massive proportion of the hands he would call with. |
