I was thinking about Anne Duke's book and DVD, and I believe that if she wasnt a chick, she'd have no reason for fame. In other words, there is no reason to care about her, let alone buy her book or DVD.

One WSOP title, and at least one other major tournament win. She seems to be a bit more successful than Antonio Esfandiari, who also gets a lot of attention.
So, yes, Annie should get a fair deal of respect. |

Isn't her WSOP title a WOMAN'S TITLE?
If so, then you've not read the original question. I'm not blaming her for making a buck. I'm blaming the media. And because Antonio Esfandiari is a COMPLETE FOOL, Anne Duke and anyone else who is above complete fool status should get more respect than him. |

By the way, I've played many sessions with a moderately famous poker chick (she's been on TV), and please take it from me when I say she is absolutely mediocre-- very tight and stale, never mixes her game, could reasonably label her weak tight.
I wont mention her name because it could get back to her, and I'd feel bad, and there's a chance she'd know who I was. |

Annie Duke has defeated most of the big name pros on the tournament circuit and can hold her own at any table. She is smart, worked hard, and she has the credentials to back up her knowledge of the game. She deserves to get as much attention as some of these WPT guys running around in hooded sweatshirts and doing magic tricks or whatever. Plus I heard her DVDs were pretty decent. |

[/ QUOTE ] Also untrue. I can EASILY find you 100 players with better poker credentials than her, including at least 5 women. She has won 1, count em, 1 total live tournament EVER that was more than 10 players. There are at least 5 posters on this site just as qualified as her. Now, she is a very good player, but until a couple years ago, word was she was scraping just to make 100k a year. But it's more about marketing than anything else, and she is marketable, for varying reasons. More power to her. [ QUOTE ] Annie Duke has defeated most of the big name pros on the tournament circuit and can hold her own at any table. [/ QUOTE ] Where you get that part I have NO idea. The 2004 WSOP TOC was a joke, she has little business being there, as she CERTAINLY didn't earn it,(nor did Howard), and I could have won that format just as easily as any of those pros, maybe easier. |
