Dell usually provides a separate driver disc. Did you get one of those? AFAIK I've never seen a specific requirement for driver installation sequence.

I had a dell 5+ years ago which required a specific order when installing the soundcard and the dvd (if I rember right). But nowdays I don't believe this problem exists.

Don't you have any recovery discs (dell usually ship these with the computer)? If you have it should work out of the box normally..but I don't yhink you have to wory. Install your OS see what's not working correctly and download these drivers seperately.

If you want you can always search the dell website or google..maybe you find something helpful..

Good luck!

I guess not, just go for the install of the OS and then the drivers. Make sure you have the driver(s) you need for your internet connection (ethernet card, wifi or modem) before you do the re-install..

Then I would go for the more vital drivers first, such as video card and audio...

On older dells you had to install the chipset first. If youre running xp it should pick those up automatically though so after that it doesnt matter.

I just installed a new chipset driver on my Inspiron 6000, and I've had it for awhile. This was without a reformat, by the way, so I am inclined to say there is no order necessary.
