The Cheating Scale
In response to the "Is paying for a 'happy ending' cheating" thread, I thought it would be interesting to come up with a cheating scale. Some of you seem to have really puritanical views of any and all sexual acts that do not involve your s.o., while others seem to think that banging a hooker isn't cheating because you're paying for it.
Anyway, here's what my "Cheating scale" looks like: 0.5 Going to a strip bar, or simply oggling other women. 1.0 Flirting with a girl that you don't know, with no intention of it going any farther. 1.5 Repeatedly flirting with a girl that you *do* know, to the point where there is sexual tension after awhile, even if you have no intention of it going any farther. 2.0 Getting a lap-dance at a nudie bar. 3.0 Paying for a "happy ending" massage. 4.0 Making out with someone you don't know. 4.5 Developing an emotional attachment with another girl, without sex being involved (though sex could eventually be involved if things progressed). 5.0 Making out with someone you have an emotional attachment to. 6.0 Getting a BJ from a hooker. 7.0 Having sex with a hooker. 8.0 Geting a BJ from someone you have an emotional attachment to. 9.0 Having sex with someone you have an emotional attachment to. 10.0 Starting up a full sexual relationship (as opposed to a "one night stand") with someone you have an emotional attachment to. Agree? Disagree? |

Here's mine:
0 - you don't get caught. 10 - you get caught. |

Re: The Cheating Scale
Scale looks pretty solid. However, I do feel that there should be a spot at the top of the list reserved for banging one of her best friends or relatives.

Re: The Cheating Scale
You have to ask yourself, on what level would you evaluate your SO doing these exact same things?

I'd say that it's an 9.0 if the sex is a regular thing, and a 7.5 if it's a one-time thing. The 7.5 is greatly reduced if you're too drunk to remember it happening. If it's a regular thing, there's always the chance that it will develop into emotional attachment -- not just necessarily on your part. |

Re: The Cheating Scale
Don't you think a scale should be unnecessary?

Re: The Cheating Scale
im just not a believer in a scale on cheating. Cheating is cheating. If someone feels like they have been cheated on its that same terrible feeling either way.

You have to ask yourself, on what level would you evaluate your SO doing these exact same things? [/ QUOTE ] I think that all of us would prefer that our SO would score a 0 during the relationship. Realistically, most people will experience the 1.5 level at least once in their relationship, as it's natural for most people to flirt with those of the opposite sex. A good question is how high on the scale would your SO have to go before you consider the relationship to be irrevocably damaged? |
