Default Best/Worst Series Finales

Using the awesome search function, I couldn't find anything on this topic, but the West Wing thread prompted me to make this post.

Out of all series finales in the last twenty or so years, I'm interested in what people think was best and worst.

EDIT: I actually left West Wing out! I suck. But then again the reaction seems to have been meh, so it probably wouldn't get a lot of votes either way.

Wow dude, you must have had that image locked and loaded. One minute?

I tried to remember them all, even did some research. Good call on that one.

I picked Cheers as the best, but Six Feet Under should be on that list. Definitely one of the best.

Definitely Cheers as best.
What was ALF's finale? I remember watching only a couple episodes when I was little. Did he go back home? or eat the cat?

Best - close call between St. Elsewhere and Newhart

Worst - I picked The X-Files because the show gradually got worse and then just petered out.

In the series finale, Alf is about to be rescued by her survivors of his home planet, but is instead captured by the American military, and the viewer is left hanging as to Alf's ultimate fate.

there was suppost to be another season, but the show got canceled

some viewers never recovered...

I loved this show and considered it, but it only went five "seasons" and 62 episodes. Arrested Development got a pass though because it has an insanely rabid following that I really don't want to piss off.

It's easy to have a great send-off if you've only been writing a few seasons worth of shows. It's when you run out of material that it's much harder.

"Six Feet Under" in terms of closure. M*A*S*H is the gold standard, though.
