Munich - the movie
I just finished watching the movie Munich. I had been looking forward to seeing this movie for a long time. I missed it at the theater and it took longer than usual to hit the rental market.
I was a bit disappointed. Well , first of all I had seen the TV movie “Sword of Gideon” with Steve Bauer a while back. That was a good TV movie. I hadn’t realized that Munich is (basically) the same story. I was expecting more. Good movie, but now I understand why it didn’t get the Oscar. To the movie buffs: was this the consensus here back when the Oscar threads were going on? |

Re: Munich - the movie
the consensus was that it was underrated, but not good enough to win (although, ironically better than the film that won)

Re: Munich - the movie
I enjoyed 3 of the 5 BP nominees. Munich was one of the three (Crash and Capote were the others).
The reason I can't call Munich a great movie is that as I walked out of the theater, I thought "well done, but Spielberg didn't tell me anything new." I mean, I hope folks already know that violence/killing is not a simple solution, but inevitably leads to all kinds of horrible consequences. The acting was quite good, there were many suspenseful moments, and some good eye candy. |

I thought "well done, but Spielberg didn't tell me anything new." [/ QUOTE ] And Crash doesn't fit into this category? (replace Spielberg with Haggis) |
