should i eat the best part of the meal first or last? why?

i grilled a porterhouse tonight, and didn't touch the filet part of the steak till after i was done the NY strip part. in my mind, i was saving the best for last, a little treat to finish off the meal. did i miss out by not eating the best part of the steak first?

this question is for all eating/drinking scenarios. if you have a beer sampler, do you drink the best beer first? last? randomly? i'm interested if anyone even thinks about this...

I eat my meals equilaterally, making sure that the ratio of substances throughout the meal stays constant, except for the last bite, that is always meat.

Normally I would save the best part for last. Of course, this is assuming the best part won't be cold by the time I get to it. If the best part gets cold, it's not really the "best" anymore.

While meat needs to rest before cutting, it seems that you may have ended up eating cold meat instead of piping hot steak the way you did it. that is, unless you raced through the rest of the meal to get to the steak.

thats weird. I do this too. and I always leave the sweetest thing Im drinking for teh very last.

I usually eat side items (salad, potatoes, vegetables, etc.) first, and the "main" course (meat, etc.) last.

It depends on the situation. If I'm eating socially I'll eat the good stuff first because I know I'll probably be talking and I don't want the meat to go cold after sitting on my plate for a half hour or so. If I'm having a quiet meal with family I'll save a bit for the end because I'll probably be doing less talking and more eating.
