Default Question about new sytem with windows XP

I just purchased a new desktop system. It is a decent system with AMD Athlon 64 x2 3800+ dual core and 2GB DDR Ram and 250 GB hard drive. Not top of the line I know...but none the less a decently powerful system.

I am going to install Windows XP Home Edition. I dont really intend to do much multi-media stuff on this system and I am not sure why I would need XP Pro.

So, my question is am I somehow limiting the performance of my system by only in stalling the XP Home Edition?

Thanks guys.

If you have to ask, no.

I am going to take that to mean that if I am not aware of the extra features included in both XP Media and XP Pro than I will not be missing anything using XP Home. Is this correct?

I was actually specifically asking if using XP Home as opposed to the other two would at all effect system *Performance* ?

Sorry if I did not make it clear in the initial asking of the question.

Yeah if you don't know what you are missing you likely won't miss it

You should be fine with the Home edition, performances will be the same. XP Home is just that...its designed for the typical computer user who use a computer at home.

Here's an article if you want more details

In the above linked article it states that ...

"Multi-processor support - Windows XP Pro supports up to two microprocessors, while Home Edition supports only one."

Since the system I purchased uses AMD Athlon 64 x2 3800+ DUAL CORE does that mean that having only the XP Home Edition is limiting the systems performance.

I am a bit confused.

Dual core system still only have 1 processors, so yes it will run fine on Windows XP home, even MS-DOS
