What the heck does it mean when the players say that?

Re: I got a squeeze .. NBC heads up
If you only lift up the side of the card, you'll either see no pips, two, three, four, or paint
0=Ace,2,3 2-4 or 5 3=6, 7 4=8, 9, ten paint=J,Q,K McManus saw paint and 0 pips. So he knew he had at best AK, and at worst J2. |

they're reading their hand by squeezing the sides and looking at it from the side first. you can identify what card you have slowly, by narrowing down whether it's paint, and then how many across you have.

Re: I got a squeeze .. NBC heads up
As others have said, it's only looking to see if you have paint and how many pips there are on one side. Squeezing your cards is useful in a Game Theory way. If you're going to raise with your powerful hands, plus some percentage of other hands as a bluff, then you can raise without even knowing yourself which one it is, and thus giving nothing away with tells.
