Greatest Horror Movie of All Time - Final Nominations
Ok gang. Back last year sometime I put together a nominations thread for horror movies. There were lots of movies mentioned, well over 100, so in order to narrow it down I went to a good friend who's a big horror movie buff. He and I hammered through the list and got it down to 64. I'd like the input of the OOT horror buffs if there are any absolutely terrible omissions on this list, with a particular emphasis on movies that might actually have a shot at advancing in this poll.
Here's the list of 64 as it stands right now. 28 Days Later Alien American Werewolf in London Bad Seed Black Christmas Blair Witch Project Bloodsucking Freaks Bride of Frankenstein (1935) Cabin Fever Carrie Children of the Corn Child's Play Christine Creature From the Black Lagoon Dawn of the Dead (original) Dead Alive Evil Dead Frankenstein (1931) Freaks Friday the 13th Halloween Hellraiser Invasion of the Body Snatchers Jacob's Ladder Jaws Misery Night of the Living Dead Nightmare on Elm Street Nosferatu Pet Semetary Phantasm Poltergeist Psycho Re-Animator Rope Rosemary's Baby Salem's Lot Scanners Scream Seven Silence of the Lambs Silent Night, Deadly Night Sixth Sense Suspiria The Amityville Horror The Birds The Blob The Changeling The Dead Zone The Exorcist The Fly (w/ Jeff Goldblum) The Grudge The Haunting The Hitcher The Howling The Invisible Man The Omen The Others The Ring The Shining The Texas Chainsaw Massacre The Thing (w/ Kurt Russell) The Wicker Man The Wolfman (1941) When a Stranger Calls Swede |

That's a very good list, but I'd add Repulsion
I've got several others, but they're sort of obscure (The Devil Rides Out, Vampire Circus, Frailty, Death Line aka Raw Meat, Dead Alive aka Brain Dead), and I wouldn't object to their omission. |

Re: Greatest Horror Movie of All Time - Final Nominations
No "Dracula" jumps off the page.
Never considered "Seven" a horror film. Silence of the Lambs is closer. "Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer" probably deserves a place on the list over such drek as Children of the Corn or the Hitcher. Also, perhaps "Ed Gein," and, if The Others is good enough to make it, "Frailty" should probably get in there too. |

I'd say Jaws only because it had the most extreme effect on the population (the summer it release, beach traffic dropped significantly). As far as preference goes, the Exorcist takes it.

Re: Greatest Horror Movie of All Time - Final Nominations
I assume you mean the 1958 Blob, and not the 1988 version.
Cat's Eye is better than some of these. Sixth Sense isn't really horror. Silence of the Lambs and Jacob's Ladder are terrific movies, but aren't really horror either. The problem here will be in people picking the better movie instead of the better horror movie. I've heard good things about Saw. Some other older movies: H-man, The Tingler, the Pit and the Pendulum, House of Wax (price), Them ~D |

Where's The Brood or Videodrome? No horror list can be complete without early Cronenberg.

Um, where's "It"? If it was submitted, considered, and dismissed.....that's fine.
Nice list, BTW. ScottieK |

Re: Greatest Horror Movie of All Time - Final Nominations
One that comes to mind is Diabolique, but I'm not sure if it should be on the list or not as I haven't seen it yet (its near the top of my netflix queue). Maybe someone else has seen it can chime in...
