OVERBETTING FLOP W/ AA/KK HU 6Max
Can somebody explain this obsession to me? I don't do it, I don't like it, but seems there's a bunch of regulars out there who think its the right play. I don't get it. I'm on a rant cause i just got crushed by AA but come on, it makes no sense, you overbet pot, then call reraise? If the point of overbetting is to know where you are for sure, then how do you then go all in when you get hit back at? This play just seems amateurish to me?

Level 1 Thinking: He's raising big... He must have a big hand!
Level 2: Oh wait, if he had a big hand he would raise SMALL to try to trap me. He must have [censored]. When RRed, just calling again seems to make it less likely that you have a big hand. |

Some people will play AA/KK like it is the nuts, no matter the action or the board.

In the evolution of the donk, we are in the midst of the time when its hot in donk circles to "read" an overbet as weakness. Perhaps this has been profiled in a recent phil h or vince van patten article.

[/ QUOTE ] The best "value" bets at SSNL are pushes on a river when you've been firing multiple barrels and have between 1.5x-2x pot. |
