Best way to open a beer without a bottle opener?
I've heard you can do it with a bic lighter, but I can't ever get it to work. What's the best way to open a beer bottle when you don't have a bottle opener?

Put the bottle up to a counter top so the edge of the bottle top is hooked on the edge of the counter and the bottle is tipped sightly out. Slap the top of the bottle hard. Be prepared for suds.

I use my needle nose pliers.
Also you can place the edge of the cap against a counter and hit the top of the bottle with your fist. No guarantees you dont chip the counter though. |

[/ QUOTE ] I've done this many times on crappy dorm furniture. Works very well, but made noticable marks. I don't recommend this unless you have no interest in the furniture or you have some other hard surface that you don't care about or won't chip (stone counter perhaps?). |

Re: Best way to open a beer without a bottle opener?
If you can't open a beer with a lighter, you shouldn't be allowed to drink beer.
Good lord, man. This is the only way. No suds, no bs, no chipping your counter. Grip beer bottle tightly near the top of the neck. Place lighter under lid. Use the top of your index finger (still gripping the bottle) as a fulcrum, and pry the damn lid off. |
