Default What do you do?

Small, fun, but competitive home game. 9 players...a few that don't really handle card very well! This is what happened:
Hand is played out with 2 people seeing the last card, 4 saw the flop. When the hand is over, the pot is being dragged and a player notices about 7 cards on the floor! The player who shuffled, dropped them and the player that dealt didn't notice that they were missing. At this point, I wasn't sure how long the cards had been out of the deck. My decision at the time was that we had all played with the same disadvantage. Obviously, no one was happy, but no one could really think of a better solution.......any suggestions?

If the hand was done when you found this, then I think you ruled correctly. If you saw it mid hand, all bets should be returned, and the hand scrapped. Also, never let that guy deal again. What, was he shuffling in mid-air?

Check Robert's Rules. Once action has moved on this type of scenario, you can't wind back the clock

Your ruling is acceptable.

In the future, insist that the cards never leave the table.

Very good point...trust me, the guy that shuffled and the guy that dealt are not allowed to touch the cards anymore!

I can only imagine the guy shuffling and the cards are shooting out of the deck and he just keeps going like nothing is wrong. I actually lol-ed visualizing that.

I once stopped myself just before I was about to deal and said, "This deck doesn't feel right." I counted the cards and it turns out 1 was missing. And this dealer couldn't notice 7 cards were missing?

In my opinion, you made the right call. Everyone was playing with the same disadvantage. However, if you noticed the cards in the middle of the hand, I would tell everyone to take their money back out of the pot and discard their hands.
