Default THE VENETIAN AIR FRESHENER (a problem)

this just isn't geared to locals, but does anyone encounter the same problem I do when I enter the venetian...

in seconds my nose is consumed with the smell of a terrble vanilla-ish musky air freshener...

it's not just "noticeable" it's [censored] obnoxious...

after about 3 hours it usually wears off but for that first 90 minutes or so, my nose runs constantly and I sneeze often

I have brought this up to the PR staff but to no avail

anyone else have the same experience?

I think 2+2wannabe mentions this in his trip report.

I've seen this mentioned on the boards a couple times already. Seems that it is a problem yes.

Hi surfinillini:

I had dinner there yesterday with three others and then we walked to the poker room to see what was going on and no one noticed anything like you describe.

Best wishes,
Mason

yeah - it's quite pungent, and very, very noticeable

I know of a couple people who WILL NOT stay there just because of the smell at casino level

Mason: it's not a poker room phenomenon, it's the entire casino (I find it remarkable that you cannot smell it once you open the doors)

rereading your response I think you understand that it is the entire casino

It may not be an air freshener in the sense of a perfume. I've visited the Venetian dozens of times and I've noticed the smell. It smells the same as the air from my bedroom air cleaner which supposedly 'ionizes' the air or something like that. It smells nice and fresh to me. I like it.

Mason, I think you guys should get your smellers checked [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

It is throughout the casino, not just the poker room. I assumed it was some kind of official "Venetian" perfume or air freshener or something. It is not a horrible smell and would be okay if it were done in moderation, but it is too strong like someone spilled a bottle of cologne. It is way overdone and too much after a few minutes. After an hour or so I don't notice it anymore.

I was at the Venetian a few months ago and hadn't noticed it then, but having been to the poker room there a few times last week it is very noticeable.

easy. just start smoking. I don't smell [censored].

Yes, the people that complain about smells amuse me.

How about a hotel room's bathroom? How about a carpeted hospital room under the bed? How about every cat owner's house in the USA (they all pee on your rug, idiot.)? I'm a rugger and those things smell offensive... nothing a casino is going to put in the air is possibly going to offend me.

The worst smell ever is a crackhead/junkie's bedroom the've been staying in for more than 6 months. No comparison. Well, maybe the baby's room in Trainspotter. Get your head around that kind of smell and then talk about air "freshener".

Quityerbitchin.

edited to provide profanity translation... I see [censored] is profanity.
