Default Reno cardroom

Hey guys,

Going to Reno in June for a golf vacation with a large group. We are staying at the Atlantis. I was wondering if anyone has played cards there, or anywhere else in Reno. What are the best rooms to play at? I mainly play 6max 100NL and 200NL online right now....but i've played limit previously. Any recommendations? If a casino other the Atlantis is best, what is it's proximity to the Atlantis?

Also restaurant recommendations would be appreciated.

I don't play NL but as far as I can tell the ElDorado has the biggest NL game in Town. Plenty of fish of course. It is a true NL game and some people buy in with 3+ grand but most with .5-1g. With what I have gathered by word of mouth is the NL games at the Atlantis are 1/2 and very soft. The Peppermill, within walking distance of the Atlantis, is the best room in town IMO. I am a limit player and they have the highest limit games. I like the 10/20 on Sat and Sun afternoons and it turns into a 20/40 at night except for Sun. All the limit games are loose as can be. Even I donked it up last night at 4/8 and got a gutshot on the river for a big pot. I left shortly after because the guy wouldn't let it go. They do have 1/2 NL and higher, but not as big as Eldorado, I think.

The Atlantis room is small. I went there when I first came to town and put my name on the list. I walked around peaked in the room and left before ever playing.

Hope this helps.

thanks for the link...I actually checked that out, but it doesn't really have much in the way of aesthetics, fishiness of games, etc. More or less just summaries of the games available in each casino and whether they are smoking or not.

I was at the Atlantis last thursday and there was a 2-3 blind 5 to go no limit game with 300 max buy in (iirc...may have been 200 max) that my buddy played in that I was told was pretty soft (ex. he doubled up early with A8 on Q88 flop against KQ), but personally I've never seen a tough NL game in town (especially if you are used to 1/2 online). As stated the Eldorado has a uncapped game during busy hours. Most other rooms just have 1/2 NL...sometimes 1/2 5 to go (Hilton at least). As far as limit, for above 4-8, you have to hit up the Peppermill.

Fishiness of games is pretty much as fishy as they get all over town. All rooms are non-smoking except the Eldorado late at night last I heard (something like 2-5am).

As far as aesthetics IMO...Atlantis is nice, Peppermill nicer, Eldorado not bad. Peppermill and Eldorado will have more games going than Atlantis.

For a good steak try Harrah's steakhouse...never disappoints. Or if you are into gorgonzola sauce on your steak at all, my personal favorite steak in town is at 4th street bistro (location is in name).

I assume you guys already have your golf planned out...where are you playing?

Not sure if sushi is your thing but Oceano in the Peppermill is surprisingly good.

Thanks for the help. Golf is planned out already, but i'm not in charge of that so I am not sure where we are playing. Probably different courses every day but i'm not sure. There's a group of 15-20 of us.

I live in Carson City so I am partial to Duke's Steakhouse in the Fandango casino.
