i suck
pfr/poster/CO has bought in several times, no read on SB
id line to know how others (read: good) players approach this in terms of hand reading, pot control, etc- please help table sees me as v active/towards lag end of spectrum SB is at seat 0 with $368. is at seat 1 with $1535.90. is at seat 2 with $453.80. is at seat 3 with $227. CO is at seat 4 with $200. Hero is at seat 5 with $735.20. The button is at seat 5. SB posts the small blind of $2. posts the big blind of $4. Hero: Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Pre-flop: CO raises to $14. Hero calls. SB calls. Flop (board: 4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]) $46 SB bets $46. CO folds. Hero calls. Turn (board: 4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]): $136 SB checks. Hero checks? (i don't like bloating pot here with one pair, and my standard line tends to be checking turn here unless villain is a monkey) River (board: 4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]): $136 SB checks, Hero? I was puzzled by the SB's flop psb, check, check line, and had no clue what to put him on |

Re: i suck
The SB probably has a worse Q than you or a pair med. pair you should definately bet the turn for value here, you can't play afraid of a checkraise. Bet the turn 60 and see what happens. The way it played I would bet 60 on the river and expect to win if called.

Re: i suck
I would value-bet ~$80 on the river. The rest of the hand is fine.

Re: i suck
What does everyone think of raising the flop to see where we are at?

Re: i suck
I don't see what's so strange about villains line.. He raised preflop which in 6 max can mean a pretty big hand range. He then bets the Q flop, this he can also do with the same variety of hands... So, unless is a total donkey with a set here, he probably either has some cards of variying quality that missed or a lower PP that wants a free showdown. You ofcourse is not going to give him that
edit: Didn't see it was three-waym and he also bets full pot which indicate more strength from most players. I put him on AK, TT, JJ. Possibily a worse queen, but I would expect him to block the river with that. JT is also possible. I Atleast would take this line with JT |

Re: i suck
check - i don't think you'll be called by a worse hand, and being raised is no fun.
it was either a steal and a c-bet, or AK/JJ/TT.. thats just my $.02 |

Re: i suck
I like raising the flop bet, maybe to $120. I want to know where I stand. SB likely has a worse hand than you and will fold here a large % of time.
If SB calls, he likely will check the turn and may bluff on the river. I don't want to bloat this pot with only top pair, but at the same time I think you are likely ahead and it's best to take away the aggression and put the SB to a decision. Any thoughts on this line? |

Re: i suck
id bet the turn 75-100 and check behind on the river if called.

Re: i suck
Ooops, another mistake on my part. Yes this does change things. A read is extra helpful in these cases because people play so differently from the blinds, some will always play hands passive there, just checkcalling all the way. Other people will checkraise and some bet out. Without reads I put them on strong hands tho, and it looks like you did too and just called. I really agree with you that the turn and river checks are odd..
I still bet the river for 2/3 of the pot since you checked behind on the turn and hope he calls with KQ or QJ. Those seem atleast somewhat reasonable |
