Default Favorite Sports Announcer

With the retirement of Keith Jackson from ABC Sports, I thought about all of the different announcers that are famous from different sports…

The two ‘most famous’ I believe are Keith Jackson and John Madden.

Obviously you have several other’s that you might notice depending on your sports…

Walton in Basketball (not because he is good but well… he talks a lot)
Harry Carry for the Cubs

WPT
Vince Van Patten and Mike Sexton

Any other ones that people like?

Vin Scully, and I'm not sure whether this is debatable.

Tim McCarver and Joe Morgan.

Oh wait, you said 'favorite,' not 'who I wish would die in a chemical fire.'

Also, we've had similar discussions in the sports-events forum.

But I'm all for repeats on this topic.

Bob Miller, L.A. Kings (it baffles me why OLN would pick the crappy Ducks announcers to work out of market playoff games instead of Bob)
He's better than Vin. (and I've listened to Vin a lot)

For national, I'll go with Al Michaels.

And the guy who hated on Chick SSCKH.

Vin Scully was obviously the name that came to mind instantly upon reading the thread title. I GUESS you could mention some other names (all MN kids love them some John Gordon) but yeah, its Scully.

About time he retired. Keith Jackson has been horrible for 10+ years. Everyone says hes so 'classic' or whatever, hes just old, boring, uncreative, and partially retarded.

My vote is for Harry Carry. He sure was old and partially retarded, but he was definitely not boring or uncreative.

New/Current Favorite: Troy Aikman. Obvs. very knowledable about the game, but hes also articulate and humorous.
