Default Baseball Bats - I need recommendations.

OOT, help me out.

I play baseball in a competitive but not too talented league in Seattle. There is no drop restriction for some absurd reason, so fishbeaters are allowed (think -8 drop). The pitchers in the league are mainly junkballers, but our main go-to guy is really good (plus-plus fastball sitting at 86 mph, splitter, curve, fading change - plays in JUCO now and is with us just for the extra throwing time). Most pitchers don't throw over 80 mph as it is.

I currently swing a 33/30 Easton Reflex and don't like it all that much, plus it's [censored] up from taking a ton of JUGS BP. I have a fishbeater Senior league bat that is 32/24 but 32 is too short for me (I'm 6'0").

I am thinking about getting a half-and-half -5 bat, like a 33/28. Metal, obviously, however, we have "wood bat month" so I'd like some recommendations for that, too.

Aluminum: I've never cared for anything sides Sluggers. I like the consistent taper of their barrels. The Eastons are too long. The TPX Omaha's for mid range price ~ $150, Worth also makes nice products, Easton too.

Wood bats: Definately a maple bat, Rawlings or Louisville (~$60), Ash will be a bit cheaper $40, but won't be as hard. If you're looking to spend big bucks, go with a Sam bat. That's what Bond's rocks.

The Easton taper is too long, I agree. I can't get it out of the slot position to turn on inside fastballs well enough.

I might buy a Slugger, I hear some good things about them, but TPX Omaha bats are cheap too.

As for wood bats, I might get a Sam bat - I know they are quite good. Wish I could test-drive one!

Everybody [censored] their pants about VooDoo bats. Are they really that awesome?

EDIT: Besides, I can use -5 drop restriction. Shouldn't I abuse that?

Obviously I am not swinging a VooDoo in the cage.

Well, I'll take a look around for one. What makes it so good?

Usually what makes good bats good is a combo of wall thickness + wall hardness + trampoline effect. Kinda like the face of a good golf driver. A lot of science goes into bat making and it's much more complex then what I stated.

feels great off the bat and packs a good punch. i had my best season this year power and distance wise with this bat.
just a great feel. dont know how else to put it. and the grip is pretty sweet.
its def a different bat. had a different sound to it, but whatever that difference is scientifically, its great

I played ball all throughout high school and some amateur wooden bat league ball too. I haven't swung a baseball bat in over 2 years, and I really miss it. Softball just isn't anything like fastpitch.

Think I'm going to cry...
