$5.50 - 2.7-to-1 enough to call this all-in with JJ?
Button - I've only seen 16 hands, he's 44/19/2
MP2 - Has played 30% of his hands but this is his first PF raise PokerStars Tournament, Big Blind is t30 (9 handed) Converter on pregopoker.com UTG (t2260) UTG+1 (t1100) MP1 (t930) MP2 (t1770) MP3 (t2815) CO (t1420) Button (t575) SB (t1130) Hero (t1500) Preflop: Hero is in BB with J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] UTG calls t30, UTG+1 folds, MP1 folds, MP2 raises to t100, MP3 folds, CO folds, Button raises to t575 (All-in), SB folds, Hero calls t545, UTG folds, MP2 raises to t1770 (All-in), Hero ... Two question: - When small stack pushes, was calling my worst option or is that OK? - As played, do you call here? |

I would definitely call the Button push, but once MP2 pushes, I think I may have to fold, depending on your read. You will often see Ace-high, and another pocket pair of some sort... enough to make your Jack's cry. However, you are basically pot committing yourself with the initial call. I may have pushed over to isolate. Or fold to begin with... though with your read on him, you seem to be ahead of his range.

Re: $5.50 - 2.7-to-1 enough to call this all-in with JJ?
I think the most important thing to take away from this hand is that next time you should predetermine your next action, based on how your opponent might react. I don't get the sense that you considered what you might do if MP2 pushed over the top of your call of the button's push.
For instance, I think a better line would have been to push your Jacks hoping you could isolate the button, by making MP2 fold to your push. That doesn't neccessarily mean MP2 would have folded in this situation, but I think in future situations this is probably the best line, next to folding. As played I call here only because of the inital mistake of calling the button's push. Had you pushed over button, or folded, you would not find yourself faced with this difficult decision. |

At a 5.50, I'm probably calling here. However, it never should've gotten to that point. I think you have to push after the shortstack goes allin.

He hadn't raised a hand yet (small sample size, of course). His initial raise wasn't too scary, but I figure if he pushes then he's serious and my jacks are beat. So I folded. |
