Default Palmers knee \"potentially career-ending,\"

story here
the injury involving numerous ligament tears, a shredded ligament, damaged cartilage and a dislocated kneecap

here are a couple quotes...

"It's not just like it was a torn ACL," Paulos said Thursday, in a phone interview from Houston. "It's a magnitude more difficult to recover from and repair. It can and has ended careers, without a doubt.

"On a scale of 1 to 3, it was a 4," he said. "It was off the chart. It was pretty badly damaged - shredded is the better term."

The surgean did say he can recover and may be able to play next season. Kitna is a free agent, who will likely not resign, what should the Bengals do in the off season?

I have no idea of how contracts work in the NFL, but lets say that he wont ever be able to play, does he get shafted or does he still make a % of his salary?

A team can cut a player in the NFL at any time and they owe him nothing further, unless the contract stats guaranteed contract money.

What is this guy saying that nobody already knows? A torn ACL can end a career? It isn't a good thing to tear your ACL and MCL?

And just after he signed that monster contract. Damn. Good job, Steelers.
