Hey folks,
at the moment there is a very good offer (good for Europeans, still 2x usa price lol) for Dell 2001 FPs and I want to buy two. However I know that I will move in 4 or 5 month or so... Do you think this is a problem? How easy is it to transport such monitors without destroying/damaging them? |

They come well packaged, just keep the original boxes if you know you'll need to move them.
Am I missing something here? |

I'm curious about this too. I have a 2001fp, I'm thinking about getting another and I'm moving in 2 months. Anymore input?

The original packaging is more than adequate. If you've lost that for your existing one, wrap it in bubble wrap and pack it where nothing will impact against the screen. They're not *that* fragile, really - I've moved house twice with mine just wedging them down the back of a car seat so they can't move and nothing will hit them. No problems.

They're vulnerable to all the normal hazards of moving fragile equipment. You don't want to drop them, smash them, or poke them with a stick.
Like Troll said, just keep the orginal packaging and repack them in it when you move. They certainly weren't transporter beamed ala Star Trek to you house to begin with and they apparently survived. Worst case scenario is you don't have the original packaging and you have to wrap them in bubble wrap, newspapaer, or something, preferably in a box. |

Since no one mentioned it, it's very very easy to dismantle and when you move be sure to take the LCD off the stand! There's a button that you push on the monitor itself to eject it off the stand.

Like others said, make sure you either keep the original packaging or get something to protect the screens. These things are pretty sensitive and will get damaged if something hits the screen.
One of the contractors that worked for me broke 20 of these at once when he piled them, unboxed, on top of each other. |

At the risk of sending this thread off on a tangent...anyone know how to clean my 2001fp screen?
