What directors will make you go see a movie?

What directors will make you go see a movie without knowing anything the movie is about. It seems like there are fewer and fewer directors who this works for.

My Top 5 List
1a. James Cameron
1b. Malick
2. David Fincher
3. Paul Thomas Anderson-more for his writing.
4. Tarantino-more for his writing.
5. Speilberg- 5th because of his endings being so bad.

Honorable Mention: Michael Mann, Todd Phillips, Clint Eastwood.

When I think of 'make' me go see a movie I infer that I am going to go out of my way to see almost anything they do.

There aren't ANY directors that I have done this for.
And I suggest that if you looked up James Cameron on IMDB there will probably be a couple films of his that you never bothered to see either (nor are that interested in). Just a guess though.


But getting to 'directors whose films I 'usually dig' (with a few exceptions):

Richard Linkliter

i have a bunch (as you might expect), but i also have a "director hitting .500" rule i employ that basically says i stop going to a movie simply b/c of the director when his films i dislike outnumber his films i like...so,

75%, so i go see his next one

American Graffiti: Y
