Default Excel/Word Install Question

I've had Word and Excel on my computer for about 2 years now, but whenever I try to open up a document, the XP auto install wizard pops up and attempts to install it again. Eventually it errors out, then I have to open the document from within a blank Excel or Word page. Any idea what is going on here? Thanks for the help.

Here's a fix for Office 2000 - don't know if you're using Office XP or not, but it might be worth a shot.

Hmmm, I'm using Office XP, so I'm not sure if it would work or not. I use word and Excel pretty rarely at home, so I don't really want to do anything that could cause undue harm. Any other ideas?

Just a thought...

When you originally installed it you may not have have installed all of the features available. When it starts up, it seems to be be looking for one of these items.

Have you tried reinstalling and making sure everything is installed directly onto the HD and not 'install on first use'?
