Turn screwplay...like?
Pacific $2-$4 - 6 max
No reads, second hand at table. Yes, I went and found a better table after my first orbit. Preflop: Hero is SB with A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4 folds, Hero raises, BB calls. Flop: (4SB) A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Hero bets, BB calls. Turn: (3BB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Hero checks intending to raise... I know this seems a bit risky to do without a read on BB, but it seems like he will fold pretty much all of his possible holdings that don't involve an ace if I bet. Unless he wants to get tricky. I get an extra bet out of Ax, and a free card won't hurt me a bit. Sounds good to me. So where is my thinking wrong? |

Re: Turn screwplay...like?
Could just be me, but it seems a little fancy for an unknown...but yeah, you could try it out and see how it works. It seems like there's a good chance that he'd fire out a worse A (or weaker hand) on the turn thinking you missed.
I rather just get a feel for the guy later to get frisky. What would you guys do here? |

Re: Turn screwplay...like?
If you fire the flop and turn and he calls both, you should c/r the river (if your jack still plays), bet otherwise.
He's betting probably all the time unless he has a 4 or 5, then he MIGHT check... my experience is that even with a 3, he'll call down your c/r gaining you an extra bet. Every time I try to play fancy I get burned though, so I dunno. |

Re: Turn screwplay...like?
I like screw playing against guys who hate laying down hands (KK on an A high board eg), but I generally don't do it vs an unknown.

Re: Turn screwplay...like?
Without a good read and at 2/4 I don't like the fancy play.
