Sniper vid from Afghanistan. NSFW and gorey (not gorie).
Probably a repost.
Amazing power of the equipment used, and incredible skill by our US Special Forces snipers. One shot, one kill. Actually, 'kill' is too small of a word to describe the effect. Splat. Nothing left. |

That was a groundhog! Old video [/ QUOTE ] I was going to ask how do we know those are not groundhogs? The .50 caliber is very powerful, but will not rip a person to pieces at a very long distance. |

The .50 caliber is very powerful, but will not rip a person to pieces at a very long distance. [/ QUOTE ] I respectfully disagree, sir. "According to Operation Iraqi Freedom PEO Soldier Lessons Learned [LTC Jim Smith 15 May 2003] "The Barrett 50 cal Sniper Rifle may have been the most useful piece of equipment for the urban fight – especially for our light fighters. The XM107 was used to engage both vehicular and personnel targets out to 1400 meters. Soldiers not only appreciated the range and accuracy but also the target effect. Leaders and scouts viewed the effect of the 50 cal round as a combat multiplier due to the psychological impact on other combatants that viewed the destruction of the target. “My spotter positively identified a target at 1400 meters carrying an RPG on a water tower. I engaged the target. The top half of the torso fell forward out of the tower and the lower portion remained in the tower.” 325th PIR Sniper "There were other personal anecdotes of one round destroying two targets and another of the target “disintegrating.” " Linky |

Re: Sniper vid from Afghanistan. NSFW and gorey (not gorie).
Having played around with .50 cal sniper rifles, I do know that especially head and limb shot will have an explosion due to the high velocity impact. Even at a very long range, and at shorter ranges about 900mtrs i've personally blown up a pig with it.
But this video is old and fake, it like some hunters in Monatana or some crap like that. I just can' remember the site it was originally on. |

Why would you shoot a pig with a .50 cal?

Re: Sniper vid from Afghanistan. NSFW and gorey (not gorie).
1. Those are animals (Marmots also known as Rock Chucks) being killed
2. The rifle is not a .50 BMG, but some substantially smaller caliber. 3. The clip originated as promotional material for a guided prairie dog hunt. Specifically, the vid is from the Rocky Mountain Varmint Hunter site. Here's the url where they downloaded the originals: http://rmvh.com/Scenes.htm click on the Rock Chuck vid. A Marmot: Echo others above that no way a .50 BMG blows apart a human at this distance. Even with the best high explosive (HE) ammunition available (humans won't detonate a HE round, too soft). |

Re: Sniper vid from Afghanistan. NSFW and gorey (not gorie).
People really think being hit with a .50 cal bullet will fling a man's body straight up in the air? No wonder so many people believe the official story about 9/11.
