Default roast pork ... what to have on the side :?

what should i have on the side?
i'll be sticking the pork joint (shoulder i think.. can't remember) in the oven later this evening

i'll be stopping by the supermarket later to get something to go on the side.. any ideas ?

i never know what to eat as a side so.

btw it's for 2, and not a special occasion just an everyday meal so nothing fancy is necessary, just tasty!

Slice up a couple of apples. Simmer them in some applejuice with some cinnamon and a little sugar. Goes great on or with pork.

There's only one answer around these parts:

along with fried plantain.

Yum. Although I go w/ rice and beans... not peas. Add some fried plantains and you're set:

^^^^ That goes w/ just about anything. Just put the meat in the middle (as pictured). The rice and beans has some cilantro and Lizano sauce. Lizano sauce is hard to come by, but you can find it in the "Hispanic" section of some grocery stores.

Lizano sauce:

Sorry, it's not very practical advice... but different combos of rice and something are always good. (mashed potatoes is also always good).

This is a perfect side to go with pork. Also, I find couscous to go well w/most of my meals.
