Default If you won $500*[Your Usual Buyin].00, What would you do?

Just interested. Eg, a 5/10 NL player wins half a million dollars.

Personally, I'd stay at the same limit. I deposited $50 when I began and swore that was the only money I'd ever deposit to play poker. I'm at $25nl now and that's the extreme limit of my skill right now.

But it's an interesting question. I voted I wouldn't have a break either, because I don't play for the immediate money I make, I play to become good.

Lottery, inheritance, found it in the street one day. A non-poker reason.

Would it be different if was a tournamnet win? Say you usually play $.5-1 or lower and win something like 5k in a tourney? Would you use that to move up in your ring game despite not wining it there?

Answer will be much different based on limits. If you play 25 NL then you just got an instant bankroll. I play 2000 NL so I would think of it more as instant retirement.

I'd buy a house and pay off school debts.

(In my case, it would be either $25K or $50K.)

Pay off debts, which would wipe out the $25K, and leave little enough of the $50K that I would just put it in savings.

That, and maybe transfer you another Tree-Fiddy.
