Default Player turns up hand. You make the call.

6/12 IIRC at the Mirage. HU on the river. UTG player bets out on a board like 8 k 2 q j with a possible flush. LP player raises. The dealer doesn't indicate the action back to utg and utg flips up a qj after a couple seconds. A couple players tell him that the action is back on him.

Dealer says it's too late and mucks the face up 2 pair of utg. Then she realizes all hell is about to break loose and pushes the pot towards the lp player. The pot isn't mixed with his chips yet. The LP player starts saying "you can call you can still call" like he's got him beat. The dealer is saying he can't, and the utg player is just stuned.

I say to the UTG player, "He's telling you he has you beat," and then wish I had instead said "Floor!" when the utg player doesn't try to call (but doesn't say he isn't calling) and the lp player flips over ace high and rakes in the pot.

summary:
Utg had qj and didn't call. LP had ace high and was awarded the pot.
So,

1. Should the dealer have called the floor and stopped the hand?

2. What should the floor's decision be at any part of this?

edited to add a wee bit of clarity

You forgot to say who turned up their hand.
UTG or LP had two pair, who had ace high?

edit to say: YOUR POST MAKES NO SENSE. Dealer pushes pot to LP, but UTG rakes it in?

I like to respond to the "you make the call" posts to stay in practice but couldn't get past figuring out what "IIRC" meant

Edited to mention that the phrase "edited to add a wee bit of clarity" in the OP cracked me up.

IIRC-- if I remember correctly. I wasn't sure that 6/12 was the limit we were playing.

The dealer did not indicate the action was back to UTG, so I think the floor should have been called. LP deserves a kick also.

If I was the floor, I would have ruled in the best interest of the game, which would be to allow UTG to call the bet. I hope his hand is retrievable, but it sounds like enough people saw it for that to be the case.

Also, it sounds like this dealer should be fired: "Dealer says it's too late and mucks the face up 2 pair of utg. Then she realizes all hell is about to break loose and pushes the pot towards the lp player."

Unfortunately, you should get a minor tap in the sack as well for influencing UTG's action.

Horrible!

Opening one's hand HU is not a fold. The hand is live. UTG has not acted...

Dealer should get a kick in the nuts for mucking a live hand. UTG should get a kick in the nuts for not protecting his hand and not paying attention. LP should get a kick in the nuts for rubbing it in.

Agreed. Next time I'll say, "call the floor" or nothing.

I'm stunned that a dealer at the Mirage did this. UTG turning his cards up does not result in a dead hand. He should have been able to call.

Everyone should get a kick in the nuts. But then, what's the use of that? These people are still gonna be morons after we kick them in the nuts. Unless the goal is to stop them from continuing their lineage. Yeah, nut kicks all around! Especially the dealer. IMO, it's the dealer's responsibility to deal with problems like this. Some players are just there to have fun, so it's definitely not their responsibility to know procedure in these situations.
