Default Atlantic City/Absecon Hotel Rooms

Planning a trip to AC on 5/11, I looked at an old thread and noticed several people recommended getting a room in Absecon to save $$$. Can anyone recommmend a particular hotel/hotel to avoid? I'd like to avoid getting rolled on my trip, if at all possible

I stayed at the Super 8 and it was fine, not particularly nice, not particularly bad. Apparently run by a South Asian family. If you pick up one of those coupon magazines in all the finer turnpike service plazas around the Northeast, you can find a $40 or so midweek rate (unless summer rates are starting to kick in by then).

most of the places on rt30 are ~40ish during the week. most of them look nice enough (ive never been in any of them though) theres some places that are cheaper ~14.95. i doubt youd get "rolled" in any of the places on rt30 between the parkway and homedepot. if youre just looking for a bed, go for the 14.95 place. i think its just past the shell station on the right.
if you want more info, let me know

The Econo Lodge is pretty nasty even for an Econo Lodge, and it's usually not the cheapest option either.

I'm a fan of the Travelodge but it looks like it's being renovated or something.

Garden State Motel was clean enough.

That's all I've been to.

Avoid the Comfort Inn in Absecon. They tamper with your credit card. You get billed for more than your receipt reflects. Be advised Comfort Inns are INDIVIDUALLY OWNED. They are a franchise. The main company escapes liability, in the case of Comfort Inns.

You actually stayed there? Did you see the crawling things? Did your room smell like they had been cleaning fish in there?

For the combined 4 hours I was in the room, it was fine and the price was right. No crawling things, no fish smell, no credit card problems.
