Default The \"end of the month\" syndrome

Whenever I have a good month, toward the end of it I play less and less, obviously because I wanna protect my winnings. It's a pretty big problem for me, because it hinders me for several days and often carries into the next month. I know the simple solution is to just play, but I can't get myself to do it. Anyone else have the same problem?

try to get out of the month-to-month mode.. think of all your sessions as one big one.

Set a certain number of hands to play for the month. You cannot stop until you hit that number. Once you hit that number of hands, then you can choose to play more for that month, or to wait for the next month to start.

Much like a time counter for live games.

Play more of your hands at the beginning of the month.

i used to keep track of things by the week. Boy am i glad i got out of that.

Like this month i was on the verge of my first 10k month, and i told myself yesterday, 'if i drop below xxx amt i'll stop) to keep my 'first 10k month.'

Then i got nearish there and said, 'don't be an idiot your playing well.' So while it used to affect me horridly not so much now.

My best month ever was March, I made $3100. April I was at $4500 at one point and figured, ok, I'll put in a few extra hands this weekend and push it to $5k.

Yea, right, dropped 1k Sunday night..but this isn't BBV is it

I get your point though. I think we all have it in different ways. A need to protect a good day/month/week. A need to recover it after a bad day. Whatever. I think it's our own internal goals that drive it and meeting, or not losing, those goals create these oddities.

One long session...I try to keep telling myself that (somewhat unsuccesfully though).

I once cashed out a $500 win with $5 chips about 3 yrs ago, only to find a $2.50 chip stuck in one of the stacks. My win was now $497.50.....I'm still friggin ticked off about that.

End of the month? This happens anytime I have a huge upswing, I just want to postpone the downswing as long as possible.

On a related note. Has any one wondered, like my self, if the games at the beginning of the month were more profitable? When I go to the casino (AC) around this time, it seems like there are more degenerates, presumably because people get their welfare checks and have disposable money to play with. Any thoughts on this?
