Default When they 3-bet the flop they have nothing. Right?

Villain is TAG. Not great, though. Has some moves, but generally just a generic TAG who wins but not too much.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ TWP (4 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

UTG ($769.80)
Button ($788.55)
SB ($579)
TWP ($1108.65)

Preflop: TWP is BB with Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $3.
<font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, <font color="#CC3333">SB (poster) raises to $18</font>, TWP calls $15.

Flop: ($42) 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">SB bets $36</font>, <font color="#CC3333">TWP raises to $72</font>, <font color="#CC3333">SB raises to $200</font>, TWP calls $1015.65 (All-In)

Insane, standard, or in between?

When I actually used to post on poker, this was known as the Yeti theorem

As long as you know villain well enough this seems fine.

Regards,

Wtf @ your first "raise".

All I can say is: know your opponent, vs. some opponents this is ok, but most of the time your gonna get called by any hand that 3-bets the flop (that isn't air). This includes diamonds.

All in all, I hate it. The more money people put in the less likely they are to fold. And you have no serious outs to fall back on if called.

The diamonds out there may induce a call from a weaker hand if he puts you on a flush draw. I really don't like this.

If he's a generic TAG who's very predictable most of the time (e.g seldom fires two bullets in this spot for example), I much prefer a float here to this somewhat strange minraise.

Good read and good move, if not made by you. This guy prob mucks his diamonds or 88/99 against others but not you.

With your style, you can take down lots of small pot and get frustrated tags to play big pots with TPTK, but getting frustrated tags to call big bets with marginal pairs against your air isnt great style.

The 'yeti theorem' is generally true actually.

But I find that in the mid stakes games 3-betting a minraise ALWAYS GETS CALLED even if the minraiser has nothing. They always think you're pushing them around because they minrasied (just as TWP does here). Thus if I see a minraise and think I have the best hand I reraise big and this always always gets paid.
