Default Negreanu vs Raymer?

Does anyone else think Negreanu was insane for calling Raymer's All-In in the NBC Heads Up Tourney?

BTW, I think the Tournament was better this week with two hours dedicated to the tourney and more poker being played.

I think it would be insane for most people to call Raymer in that situation. But Daniel is one of the best players in the world for reading hands, and he relies heavily on his reads and instincts. He said that he worked extensively with Josh Arieh and Erick Lindgren to prepare to play Raymer. He also said to Josh on camera that he had been playing to set up that situation, and Raymer went for it.

A lot easier for me to say it as I wasn't playing, but from what I was watching I didn't think it was that hard of a call, and Negreanu's celebration and emphasis on how amazing of a call it was was overdone.

It was a no-brainer for DN, really. He is the hand-reader.

But remember he got stung bad the first hand of the match, and didn't want to grind back up again if he didn't have too.

Can someone post the hand? Why do they play this thing at Noon? Who the hell is awake by Noon?

His behavior, last week and this week, is starting to get very annoying. He is way too peppy and chatty, for my taste, when he wins hands.

Daniel gave pretty extensive analysis in his blog after this happened as to why he called in this particular hand.

All of his river calls are basically the same thing:

"I know I'm beat. I should throw this away, but I just can't."

Then if he really was beat: "I knew it. That's why I said I was beat."

Or if he accidentally had the best hand: "I knew it! That's why I called!"

Don't forget "You either have the nuts, or you have nothing. I call".

From DN's blog-

With Greg, I was playing possum, using a ploy that Layne Flack coined, "Why do the pushin' when the donkey is doin' the pullin'." In no way am I implying that Raymer is a donkey, but it best describes what I wanted to do with him.

I wanted to give Raymer a chance to bluff in spots where I showed a significant amount of weakness. Eventually, after setting up the "possum ploy" Raymer went for it for all his chips on the river.

The next problem I faced was that I just didn't have much of a hand. With a board of K-J-2-8-2 I had a J-7. If he wasn't bluffing, I was dead and it likely meant that my tournament was over. I called him, and he turned over 10-5... a total bluff!
