Default JJ... should I check the river?

Villain seems like the average Partygoer... maybe 35VPIP, low PF raise and aggression. comments all streets please.

That's a tough hand... when HU I will sometimes check/fold the river. I must say this type of play is very read dependent and in the absence of a good read your play is standard. Take some notes and you will be ready for him next time.

Put villain on buddy list. And checking would have been reasonable in position if you think he's passive enough to do that, but checking OOP is just inviting him to bet. So don't check unless it's to c/f.

I think this hand is played perfectly for your average opponent. Value betting that pocket pair in situations like this adds lots of money to your roll long term. Getting smooth called like that makes you feel like an idiot, but really they're the ones who blew it.

Against a 35 VIP player consider the following:
1. What hands would he cold call preflop with?
Any Ace, KQ probably, TT, or any small pair
2. He would probably reraise w/ AA, KK, or QQ unless he is a complete idiot.
3. Once an A hits the flop you are in a gambling situation with your jacks. If opponent doesn't fold to a flop bet, then just check and fold on the turn as you are probably beat to a 35% VPIP player who plays any A.
4. Don't gamble with your money, wait for a statistical advantage.

I think this is standard. A loose-passive villan will call you down with all sorts of crap. Sometimes he has an A here, but I think we're good often enough to make a value bet correct.
If we get raised though, you can probably muck it.
