Do these things work while driving? Know nothing about them but considering getting one? Is it basically just like a cellphone, so the minute you leave urban areas your internet goes on and off constantly? [/ QUOTE ] kinda. |

Re: Sprint Mobile Internet Card
I use the Sprint service and I must say I'm not totally satisfied. I mean I'm paying $60 a month for internet that isn't even really "high speed." I average about 100kbps which is around twice as fast as an average dialup modem. I'm in a major city too. For all I know this is as good as it's supposed to be, but I certainly can't play any serious games online or anything like that. I really wish I hadn't agreed to a 2 year contract...

Re: Sprint Mobile Internet Card
why can't you play any serious games at 100k? does it cut out a lot or something?

Re: Sprint Mobile Internet Card
It just lags a lot. I used to play Project64k online all the time when I used cable but now I can't even get a decent ping on any server, hence I can't play at all.
I think it might have more to do with my upload speed than my download speed. I forget the exact numbers, but I think I upload at about 1/8th the speed that I download. It sucks. |

Re: Sprint Mobile Internet Card
definitely sounds like something funny is going on and you are having drop-outs or something.
I was having some weird problems with my connection on certain sites when I first got it. I think if it was just a little mini-timeout that wouldn't even be noticed otherwise I somehow wasn't connecting back as quickly. Problem was most significant on UB but also gave me hassles on FT. I was fiddling around with my firewall and virus-protection and stuff and that seemed to make a difference. But mostly the problem seemed to vanish on its own at some point and also I switched all of my play over to WSEX and Stars which were fine for me. But it definitely wasn't connection speed. It was more connection 'glitches' or something I think. I mean, I can play 12 tables on a 56k dial-up line and as long as the connection is uninterrupted then that's more than enough speed to get the job done. |

Re: Sprint Mobile Internet Card
I've never had any problems with poker sites because they hardly require any bandwidth. It's the resource intensive games I'm talking about.

Re: Sprint Mobile Internet Card
If anyone wants a cheap deal for $49.99 a month on Sprint, just PM me (its a code I can give for www.sprint.com, it will require 2 year contract) - no gain for me in getting you to sign up but I figure you might as well save $10/mo if you can
