Bet the turn with those stacks.

[/ QUOTE ]Why? I would much rather check turn and call a river card like this, than bet turn. If you bet turn you only get action from a better hand, and he really doens't know where he stands at all, so i'd rather induce a bluff, than be randomly betting that turn personally.

[/ QUOTE ]

Protect your hand vs his likely draw or/and 1 pair. May get bottom 2 to fold. He is so short its easy bet.

I agree turn was weak given it was unlikely villain held set. But two pairs might have stuck around.
Any thoughts on my call on river? Was my reasoning faulty? Poll suggests im the only one to hagree with myself (that one vote for call is me).

I didn't vote because it's close and would depend on the player I am up against. Honestly if he has a made hand (2 pair+), he's repotting that flop. Bet the turn and if he sticks around with 57xx so be it.

I would think villan here is calling with AJxx where xx = 34, 46, or 68. It doesn't seem like a set, but on such a board where he knows you are going to c/bet, he might be playing JJxx the same way and looking for a safe turn (which he got). The most likely hand you are on in his eyes is the overpair or the high 9-way, not the bottom wrap. A set would possibly check it heads up and hope for a c/r on the turn here in the face of flop aggression.

All in all though, I feel like it's not a set. Most people c/r the set. I think he showed you the wheel here or air (with air also being AJ68). for me, call = 35%, fold = 65%
Results?

fold ; he called a bet pot on a rainbow flop, in my opinion you can beat only a missed straight draw

bet the turn, river is a very tough call (I voted fold, and I would probably fold everytime against an unknown).

His stack was short enough... betting the turn is a no brainer, especially if you plan to call the river anyway. Not betting the turn is a lose lose situation here.

I'm with everyone else here. Just bet the turn. If he had two pair or a set, he probably would have repopped you on the flop, and no straight cards got there on the turn. Make him either fold his draw or pay fully to chase it.
