Default 25NL 2 Pair Calldown...

Villain is a fairly tight, aggressive player, though a loser over slightly less than 200 hands. That's all I really know, but I do respect the player. EDIT: I have him at 21/6/5.5 (obvious sample size weirdness).

Good call, sloppy call?

something does not feel right about this hand.

With a bet like that on the river I think i would just call. not much we beat that in villains calling range.

its not a terrible call, but i think you put yourself in that situation with the river raise.

i just call villian's river bet here...sounds like your read on him he is a decent TAG, so his UTG limp screams a low PP or SC. He could be limpin A2s-A5s (less likely IMO) but if hes decent hes probably folding to your flop/turn bet with those holdings. Some PA stats would be nice but if hes a decent TAG i think he has 22-55 here alot.

Every street, villain has checked call, NOW he bets a "$5 I want money for my hand" bet?.... I am honestly tempted to call here. I rarely raise here in situations like this, (the river bringing a K is the only way I might consider it, and even then...) as they either fold (no benefit) or they are reraising.

I realize this isn't a very exciting hand, so I'll just post the results now. The hand included a little chit-chat, motivated by a previous small pot I took down. On the river, after my raise, villain said "pay me off." I thought for a while and made the call. The table chat didn't motivate the call, but I felt like he was making a move.

When I made the call I knew it was probably a "bad call," but I was sure I was right this time.

Guess I gained some SklanskyBux, lost a stack of G$.

While i don't hate your river raise, I hate putting myself in these positions as he very well could have 33,44, or 55 here and played it differently.

I would have just called the river and made a note. I don't mind losing a little possible value to:

1)Get valueable info on an unorthodox play from a villain I tend to respect

2)Keep myself out of "ugh" situations.

It ended up working out for you, but still, I think I prefer just calling the river.
