All complaining about the cops -

Would you turn the other cheek if some drunk bastard tells you to [censored] off for no reason?

Kipin, your right nostril looks ginormous.

Yes, absolutely, every day and twice on Sunday, because I am a grownup.

And being a grownup with authority and a gun makes this even more important.

As a grownup, would you also get tanked and yell "[censored] the police" to random passerby cops? And would you think it unreasonable that there might be actual consequences to this action? EDIT: Also, does it appear the cops were incited to use unreasonable force? If not, I think bringing up the gun side of things is somewhat irrelevant. It is obviously important that cops not get provoked into using force unnecessarily, but that doesn't seem to describe this case at all.

Let the record show that on this day, the 8th of June in the year of Our Lord 2007, I agree with you.

Kinda, yes. He's being punished for his words and thoughts which are bordering on political speech. It's a fine line, but the guy wasn't tearing up shrubbery, he yelled something stupid and got freaking arrested.

You know what I'd do? I'd [censored] you up... Oh but then I'm not a cop [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

Morale of the story: don' be an immature idiot

If you walked up to a stranger 1.5 your size and said "[censored] YOU MAN", what do you see coming? How's this different when it's a cop?

I would turn the other cheek also, mostly because I'm a chickenshit, but I also wouldn't yell at cops either.

Yeah it would be nice if the cops let it go. But they probably put up with a lot of BS (yes they dish it out at times too). In the grand scheme of things, I just can't get outraged at a night/morning in detox and <$100 for being an a-hole. By Kipin's own admission he's learned a lesson!

Not sure if a lawyer is worth it for $94 but any competent one will have you off no problem. I had a friend who was drinking a beer in public while underage and the cop saw and arrested him. Lawyer simply told the judge there was no way of knowing if it was actually beer in the can since they didnt test it and never obtained his BAC that they had to let him off. So you should be ok in court.

Walking back out of the bar is as stupid as yelling f' the PoPo.

Question for all the OOT lawyers: What's the liklihood that you will get in trouble if you yell random insults at cops while completely sober? For instance, you are at a mall and yell "[censored] tha police, comin straight from tha underground" just as a cop walks by. I know that it likely isn't illegal to do that, but I always figured that the cop would find something to charge you with.
