Irons:
Ping i5's, 4-LW

Driver: Titleist 975J.

Putter: Scotty Cameron mallet.

Other: Ping G5 19 degree hybrid.

New irons this season. I'm liking them so far, and over three rounds I can honestly say "mis-hits," as opposed to fundamental errors in swing, have for the most part been eliminated.

My driver is "new" to me, but a few years old. I just hit this really well, and while I know the technology is advanced, I figure, if it ain't broke don't fix it. I've never been a long hitter, and maybe something new would change that, but I'm happy with my driver, and don't feel the need to spend a few hundred on a new one.

While I'm using the Scotty Cameron, I just ordered a belly putter. I have the yips, it blows, and I need to try something new. Specifically, I just can't get a solid, consistent stroke, as simple as it should be.

The 975J (and 975D) are holy grail drivers IMO. Do any of the new gigantor Titleist drivers play comparable in feel and ball-shaping?

I personally feel that using older Titleist drivers that matched older balls that spun more will have you hitting very flat tee shots, I have a 975D with X100 shaft that I occasionally practice with on the range, I hit it well and have goofed around with it on the course but it goes nowhere with ProV1x balls, it just doesn't carry(now, I do work at a hilly course). The older drivers were meant to hit the Professional/Balata/Tour Prestige that were would and spun more than todays solid cover softer core balls.

Driver: first gen. Nike SQ 9.5* stiff flex (also trying the same driver in 10.5*)

Nike ignite t60 3 and 5 woods
ping ISI irons 4-pw
vokey 52, 56, 60 wedges (low bounce)
Heavy putter

pro v1 or any soft feel ball.

i hit the ball really far, so i'm contemplating switching to to the 10.5* driver for increased accracy. i played today and didn't notice any difference in distance, still hit plenty 300+, but did feel more confident i would end up in the fairway. Can't tell yet if i was just swinging good or the higher loft is a good switch.
