Re: Da river check-raise bluff
I don't like it. This is usually a king/straight w/ a small possibility of boat/air, and I'm not going to assume that a regular $33 villain that you described as a "little loose preflop" has the capacity to fold a king after vbetting the river here. Your c/r only works if villain is horrifically bad.
As an aside, you can represent exactly 0 monsters. I say this "as an aside" because I doubt villain is consciously assigning hand ranges anyways. |

Re: Da river check-raise bluff
What does villian put me and the big blind on by the time it gets to him on the river?
What is he value-betting on the river that he does not bet by the turn when it has been checked to him twice? |

Re: Da river check-raise bluff
Quite possibly the worst move I have ever seen, it is obvious that the villain is holding pocket 2's and hit his boat on the river. If you can't see this with absolute certainty, you should stop now and just play bingo with your grandma

Re: Da river check-raise bluff
Anything I bet for value as cutoff I call. Anything I am bluffing with I fold. Confusion = call.

Re: Da river check-raise bluff
I like it, personally. Villain's bet makes no sense at all. I certainly don't think he can be strong enough to call a check/raise.
I assume that you checked with the intention of seeing a cheap showdown, and then took villains unnecessary bet into the pot as an opportunity to check/raise? |

Re: Da river check-raise bluff
This only works if villain has absolutely nothing, because your line makes no sense.
Having said that, the chances of villain having nothing are pretty substantial with this line. In fact, I almost think calling may be more +EV. |

At the time, I remembered all the times I've seen people bet in this situation with 44 or somethin with no idea whether or not they're betting for value or bluffing and I thought if that was the case he could fold a low PP. I think just calling might be more +EV though. |

Re: Da river check-raise bluff
I would think raising is better than calling, just because he could be bluffing with a small pocket pair. But I think this is a bluff (or misguided value bet that won't pay off a check raise) more often than a real value bet.
