Amazed at the number of people with 1000 posts or more who:

a) don't know how to calculate a PSB
or
b) would like to bet less than pot with the 3rd nuts

[/ QUOTE ]

LOL at:

a) Using a term like "3rd nuts" preflop
b) Thinking a PSB is something magical

[/ QUOTE ]

LOL at these things making you LOL

and at you being a weak-tight nit

Choosing between a $50 or $75 bet on the flop isn't about right or wrong - it's just a matter of personal choice.

[/ QUOTE ]

yes, you have the personal choice to make unnecessarily large bets. betting for feedback, esp a psb, is a waste of $. you are making the hand easier to play for you and the villain

are you guys seriously worried about a guy that cold called twice preflop is going to have a king? Or that a player that passive will bluff you off the best hand? Just bet 55 and fold to shove.

i b/f also. uknown could have any pp here, and i'm not too worried about whether or not i get called by worse hands, because oop i'm usually not going to make it to showdown here anyway.

A few things here...

4-bet is too big. Something like 30 accomplishes the same thing (denying decent set odds mainly) and gives you more room.

Readless, what are you possibly beating? JJ only? He'd have to be a huge idiot to show up with anything else (remember he has no read on you so he can't say zomg light squeeze), and while that is possible, I'm not so sure I'm ready to assume that. So c/f, weak as it seems, looks like a very reasonable option.

As played, bet/call is enormous spew.

[/ QUOTE ]
1.) Its a 3bet, not a 4bet
2.) 3betting less so you have more room postflop is just stupid, get more money in while you are ahead oop

please explain to me where the value in betting lies. i don't see what it accomplishes.

edit: edit:

i assume you're saying b/f just b/c villain and passive and will let us know when he has us. my issue w/this is that villain is probably not calling w/anything that didn't hit that flop unless he is a mega station.

scenario 1: when we bet he usually folds whatever pp's he cold called with but raises w/AK+ (calls w/some frequency).

scenario 2: if we check villain is still likely to bet w/AK+ this guy probably isn't turning 88,JJ or w/e into a bluff so we may have to c/f but whatever.

he may be raising a little less often in scenario 1 than he bets in scenario 2, but i don't think the frequencies are that far apart. i say save the $; if he shows any aggression on the flop we're almost always drawing to 2 outs.

pineapple - a CC and then calling a squeeze seems like a medium pocket pair to me pretty often... which means you are ahead of more than JJ

i would check this flop (for value, lol)

betting is pretty hideous imo as his raising range is difficult to interpret and you will get many hands w/ 2 outs vs you to fold

As Ike mentioned, the fact that you are likely ahead doesn't make betting good.

You need to stop thinking that it's a good thing if you bet here and villain folds. And you need to keep that mind while ALSO considering that it isn't a good thing if you bet and he calls. What does that tell you?

w/no reads...

if it checks throuhg on the flop, do we bet the turn?

if he bets the flop when we check and follows through on the turn, do we fold?

pretty sure we bet the turn in scenario 1, and fold the turn in the 2nd one...yes?
