Re: Is my overpair any good?
I agree and understand that a lot of people would think my laydown here, as well as my flop bet, is horrible. Plenty of people stick to a 'standard' type of play. This was just one example where I decided to deviate from what I would normally do because I felt the situation warranted it. I was truly concerned about what the old guy cold-called my reraise with and figured to be ahead of just a few hands in his possible range on the flop. Rather than stick in all of my remaining chips I decided to probe. This was a very unusual situation for me.
I feel that the story told throughout the hand indicates strongly that I am beat. It wasn't strictly about pot odds for me. I knew I was getting better than 3:1 but also figured I was a possible 9:1 dog. In my mind the villain here knew I practically had to call with any reasonable hand. Even AK would be getting proper odds to call here vs any smaller pair and I'm pretty sure he knew that. |

Without any live reads a fold is pretty awful here. [/ QUOTE ] QFT.. the pot contains t15000, and it costs you t5000 to call. You have waaay more than 25% equity here. I think you are a favorite against villains range. If you lost this hand, well then it was variance. Folding here would be a disaster. |
