Re: Tie vs No Tie, rate the ballerness.
True,
However, I think we'd both agree that "grown up" in this case does mean "baller". Perhaps not the super ostentatious type of baller that 2p2 seems to expect, but baller nontheless. That said, even using just "grown-up" I think the tie is a little bit too square/playing dress up. |

Re: Tie vs No Tie, rate the ballerness.
first off the term is "sans tie"
second if you are wearing a blazer: a white shirt sans tie is fine(khaki slacks are good). a sportcoat:sans tie( twill/check/ other pattern(note:herring bones look horrendous) suit jacket: if worn with the coordinating suit pants, a tie is a very good idea(wear the tie, but maybe with a loose asymetrical knot with the top shirt button left open). if worn with just normal black/navy pants then whichever is fine(wear an elegant tie, NOT an exotic one, dont wear a stiped tie, unless it looks awesome) |

for asians, without tie is definitely more baller ... especially with shirt collar outside of jacket collar

No tie is the way to go. I only wear ties on occasions where ties are completely unnecessary. I wear them to dance clubs (like Brit-pop/indie rock nights) with jeans and sneakers, and I wear them to house parties and whatnot (also with jeans and sneakers). But slacks and dress shoes and blazers should accompany the no-tie look. [/ QUOTE ] Same, except I wear dress shoes for most events. |

Dibs,
Either way, man. A jacket and nice shirt is plenty grown-up. A tie can be a nice touch, though. I'd just go with whatever you feel like makes you look best. |

Dibs, Doesn't matter. If you're wearing a sportcoat, don't wear khakis--that looks like a prep school student.

DaveR,
Zero risk of that happening. 1- I don't own them and 2- because yeah, prep student exactly. |
