Is he a friend? How long have you known him?

You'd be an idiot for even considering letting him back in. Not only is he a violent drunk, but he's a low-life criminal who breaks into cars. It's not like he's a lifelong friend of yours...just some psycho you were unfortunate to have to share a room with.

Re: Psycho Roommate\'s fate lies in my hands. What\'s my play?
Cliffnotes:
Guys roomate gets drunk, starts breaking into cars. Police catch him in the act but he resists arrest in many violent ways. Has to stay in the drunk tank overnight. Now OP has to say if the guy can come back to live in the dorms or not. I personally would say no, unless he were a really good friend and I knew he just got way too drunk. |

So they caught him in the act of breaking into cars, but released him at 8am and where willing to release him even earlier had the OP picked him up?
BS. |

Re: Psycho Roommate\'s fate lies in my hands. What\'s my play?
Well according to the police, The way the laws are written since he didn't connect his punch nor were any of the cops injured at all, they could only keep him for 4 hours after being released from the hospital. They took their sweet time picking him up from the hospital so that they could keep him til morning. Also, he only recieved misdemeanor charges. I have no idea why assaulting an officer is not a felony, but I don't pretend to know much about the laws.

Re: Psycho Roommate\'s fate lies in my hands. What\'s my play?
I should have clarified this earlier, sorry. He is not someone I'm close with at all. I was randomly assigned to room with him so I've only known him for about a month. We hang out sometimes, but we both have out own groups of friends. It's not as if he's a long time friend that I go way back with. Again, something that should have been mentioned in the OP
